Typical agricultural steel frame that I design for fabricators. Note the open sides which means that wind load is an important factor in the design and especially for the column bases that must be sized to ensure no net uplift.



A frame truss with a horizontal member that is half way up the truss. In this position it will not be acting a s tie and will more likely be in compression!


King post truss in a barn surveyed for conversion. All the timbers are in a good condition due to the roof covering being watertight.
